I’ve heard this number isn’t accurate at all despite what Washut says.
Knowing how tight HuskerOnline and 1890 are, if the number was higher, and 1890 wanted people to know for a fact that it’s higher, it would be out there.

HuskerOnline is quite literally the personal PR firm for the collective.

I can't think of any part of the finances of a public university that aren't either published, or required to be made available upon request.

I do wonder if rev share will be somewhat more equal between players, with NIL being the mechanism to make more disproportionate payments to the stars & more marketable players.

I wouldn't be surprised if the overall payment is made to an entity outside of NU's system to keep the true numbers private.

Sipple said it's higher. Last I knew, he's a part of HOL. But that must be different.

Washut runs cover for Fred quite a bit, and we both know it's how he keeps his access. Big fan of Washut's overall coverage of Nebrasketball though.

And we are at 2-2.5? Yikes.

I don't anticipate that number going up much until football gets better and we don't have to pay as much for these big time football transfers to come here. It seems we are committed to getting back to where the fanbase wants football to be, and will give Rhule whatever he thinks he needs to build that kind of roster. The transfers we pulled in this offseason were not cheap competing with the big boys for them.

Once you build a winning football program, some of those expensive entities become a little cheaper as they become less difficult to convince to come here. Then you can start allocating a little less rev share and NIL to football and distribute those savings to building a better basketball roster.

Until then, I don't expect us to start landing a bunch of studs from the portal for basketball who have high asking prices. It's why I want to keep Hoiberg around. He is able to do more with less based on these last 3 years.

Gotta find a big man that can see it first. Walker averaged 3.9 apg & Mast averaged 2.79 apg. This year, Morgan & Meah was half of what Mast had.

Heck, Berke averaged a hair more than Allick. 1.48 v 1.33. Brutal considering how often Berke had the ball in his hands.

This is a really good point and probably affected the offense more than we realize.

It seemed like this team wasn't the right mix of skills to run Fred's 5 Out Offense. So many offensive droughts all season. Salty D most of the time but lacking personality on O. Our Centers struggled to facilitate any form of offense. Love Rollie's toughness but he was not an offensive threat from the outside. Gary fell in love with his inconsistent jumper at times instead of going to his strength of driving and banging. If Berke or Griffin could have been consistent threats from the 3 it would have helped spread the floor but outside of Williams and occasionally Essegian teams didn't need to worry about us stretching the floor.

Did this team have a true Offensive Identity outside of get the ball to Williams hoping he could score?

I hate to keep beating this drum, but I will die on the hill that Berke is closer to the guy we saw in his last couple of games before the injury than he is the guy after the injury. I think if he stays healthy we are talking about how his development down the stretch was a large reason we were able to get to the NCAA tournament.

The guy that I circle as the biggest disappointment and one that can’t happen moving forward is Griffin. You were likely counting on 8 points a game from him with the occasional heater where he goes off for 15-20 as he gave Rutgers 6 a game last year.

I think if you have a shooter like him on the floor it would have allowed Gary to just be him and not feel responsible for as many 3s as he took.

Interesting take on Berke. He had four double digit point games and only one of them was after Pickle Smoochers. He also averaged 5 pts at UCLA so what should our expectations be for him?

They need to go buy 3/4 of a new team, a real PG, a shooting forward and big forward and probably two real BIGS. Being that Hoiboy, has NEVER been able to get one real BIG to come to Lincoln, that will be nearly impossible.
Define “real big”. He needs a Mast or a Derrick Walker for offense and then length on the wings for defense. Neither is hardly a traditional big which isn’t as important in the modern game.

Agree. Going into Berke's Freshman season at UCLA many had him being a 1 & Done. Some had him as a potential Lottery pick. A PF who could stretch the floor plus handle the ball. Seemed like a great fit for Fred's offense. Still have no idea what happened with Griffiths as he looked like a much better player his Freshman season at Rutgers. Walk Ons were getting in before him the 2nd half of the season.
