They had Irving Fryer, Mike Rozier, and Ricky Simmons on The Captains Show (Vershawn Jackson & Terrell Farley) today. Caught a little bit of it as I was running some errands, but it was one big bitching session, saying how the didn't felt he University took care of them the way that they should. That they should get free tickets whenever they want, get access to whatever facilities whenever they want, and even that they should have a room full of shoes, hats, shirts, etc... that former players should be able to go into and get whatever they want whenever they want it.

Wasn't a good look for either the University of the former players.

Not a good look for the university because they SHOULD be providing these things? Or why is this not a good look for UNL?

Typical innit?

It really is... It's kind of crazy. Since DP took over, he has a lot of ex-Huskers doing shows and even has shows with current athletes, so you would think he would be all about trying to help the University, but it seems like a lot of the messaging is very slanted against the University. He also comes across as someone that has an overvalued sense of worth.

Not a good look in that when you have famous players complaining about their access to the University or feeling that they aren't wanted there (whether accurate or not), it doesn't look good.

if they left it at that they may have a point, but when they start asking for a bunch of free shit to stroke their egos it makes everything else they say suspect

taking this to the logical conclusion, how many living former players are there?

if we stop sucking and play a meaningful game in a year or two, is the AD expected to find a couple thousand free tickets to keep the former players happy?

You're right. Free tickets for living former players but only after we round up and execute 85% of them.

Fair is fair

~35 dudes a year * 60 years = 2100.

I don't even disagree that it's smart PR to be giving former players some perks & access, but unlimited tickets & apparel is probably like a $10 million a year or more ask.

They come off like ungrateful retards, especially when the current admin has been very conscious of the former players. You might have gotten some sympathy for this under the Callahan/Pederson regime, but not now.
